No. 25 gin
In partnership with Ray Clynick, who runs the Oro Distillery in Dalton (near Lockerbie), we’ve delivered our very own gin. With the initial flavours of a traditional London Dry Gin, it shows fresh crisp juniper combined with zingy Spanish citrus notes. Precisely balanced with delicate notes of French lavender and Italian violets, this is a robust gin, which at the same time is velvety smooth.
After months of experimentation the main botanicals selected for their flagship Oro and Oro V recipes are a combination of classic gin botanicals such as juniper of course, coriander, orris root, lemon and orange peels, and the more unusual cassia bark, Malabar cardamom, pink peppercorns, lemongrass and lavender. There’s also one other signature botanical that will forever remain secret…
A classical style Scottish Dry Gin, starting with robust notes of juniper smoothly moving to a zingy citrus mid body, finishing nicely dry, with a note of spiced vanilla.
Recommended garnish: lime
Recommended tonic: Fever-Tree Indian tonic
A more modern style of Scottish Dry Gin, more of a subtle juniper start point, balanced with light fresh lavender, crisp citrus and gentle orris. The lavender acts a smoothing agent rather than a flavour, creating a long lasting and refreshing gin.
Recommended garnish: lavender
Recommended tonic: Fever-tree Indian tonic or Fever-Tree
The EnGINeered Tonic
Using nitrogen oxide under high pressures, Oro’s head distiller has created a collection of bitters that they recommend to create the enGINeered tonic cocktail. The bitters contain flavours and aromatics designed to bring out the more traditional flavours in the gin. This is their modern day version of the iconic pink gin cocktail.
